Community Workshops With Special Guests- Bringing BROADWAY to Scarborough!

We bring in some of Canada’s top Musical Theatre talents to teach workshops that are open to the entire community! Have fun, learn new things, and connect with other local arts friends!

  • You don’t have to be enrolled in a regular ARTSies program to join us- we welcome students from schools and dance studios across the country!

  • Workshops are divided by age or skill levels, and cater to a wide variety of experience and abilities.

Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Kaleigh began dance classes at the age of 3 and trained under the RCM vocal criteria. She studied acting at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson). Over the past 15 years, Kaleigh has performed professionally in plays and musicals across Canada and Europe. She has originated leading roles in new works by acclaimed playwrights Judith Thompson and Timberlake Wertenbaker. In 2024 Kaleigh played Elsa in the Canadian Premiere of Disney’s FROZEN: The Broadway Musical at Neptune Theatre and reprised the role in Theatre Aquarius’ production of FROZEN this past holiday season. Kaleigh is passionate about inspiring young people interested in performance careers, and equipping them with tools to navigate the industry.

THERE'LL BE MUSIC, THERE'LL BE LIGHT! Ensemble Singing Experience

Ages: 10-18

Timing: 10-11:30 Workshop, 11:30-11:45 Q&A 

Fee: $45 +hst 

Celebrate Family Day with a thrilling musical theatre singing experience designed to help young performers grow in confidence and technique- together! This high-energy workshop with Canada's original Elsa will definitely THAW YOUR FROZEN HEART! 

Students will begin with fun and effective vocal warm-ups before learning a group song with a strong focus on acting through music and storytelling. For those who feel comfortable, there will be opportunities to sing short solo sections and receive individualized guidance from Kaleigh, all within a supportive ensemble setting.

Throughout the workshop, students will gain professional tips on:

  • Breath support and vocal placement

  • Ensemble singing, blending, harmonies

  • Healthy belting techniques

  • Pitch, rhythm, and musical confidence

This workshop is perfect for students who are not yet ready to carry full solo songs on stage. Singers may be brand new- or have plenty of musical theatre experience- but are still developing consistency in pitch, rhythm, range, and overall vocal control.

Q&A For ALL Participants 11:30-11:45am

 Students from both workshops groups will come together for an engaging Q&A session, where they'll hear firsthand about Kaleigh’s professional journey. Participants will gain valuable audition tips and a deeper understanding of the dedication and stamina required to perform a leading role like Elsa eight shows a week on a professional stage.

LET IT GO! Solo Singing Masterclass

Ages: 10-18

Timing: 11:30-11:45 Q&A, 11:45-2:30 Workshop

Fee: $75 +hst 

DO THE NEXT RIGHT THING for your training and claim one of only ten spots in this exclusive solo singing masterclass with Canada’s original Elsa! 

The day will begin in a guided group warm-up, focusing on healthy technique and vocal readiness, before transitioning into individual solo performances.

Each participant will receive 15 minutes of individualized coaching, during which they will:

  • Perform 32 bars of a musical theatre song of their choice

  • Receive personalized feedback on vocal technique, storytelling, and performance

Coaching may focus on:

  • Acting through song

  • Healthy belting 

  • Breath support and vocal control

  • Audition preparation and confidence

Students are encouraged to take notes during their peers’ coaching sessions, gaining insight and learning from a variety of voices and styles.

This is a focused, supportive, and high-level learning experience designed to help singers take the next step in their vocal journey. Students must have 32 bars of a solo musical theatre song prepared, and we'll be asking for sheet music to be emailed in advance. They'll be accompanied by Athena So, who has played on stages such as Mirvish, Theatre Aquarius, Shaw Festival, and Drayton! This workshop is intended for intermediate to advanced singers who are comfortable singing solo and are looking to strengthen their skills for auditions, leading roles, or a future professional career.
